Q: How long and how many times a week are practices?
A: The Travel Director and the coach determine the number of practices, length, starting time and location. Usually 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 hours, once a week.
Q: Is my child expected to attend all practices every week?
A: Players are expected to attend all practices and to notify the coach, prior to practice, if they cannot attend.
Q: Will my child play in every game?
A: Academy players must play in one-half of every game.
Q: How far do you travel to a game?
A: Generally less than 1 hour. Excluding tournaments, teams generally travel within Fairfield and New Haven counties.
Q: Do you travel every weekend?
A: No. Every schedule includes home games. Home games are played at East Village Park, Capewell Park, Shelton High School and Nike Site depending on the age group and field openings.
Q: Are games played on Saturday or Sunday or both?
A: They are usually scheduled on Sundays, but schedule or weather conflicts may require Saturday games for Academy teams.
Q: How many children will be rostered on the team?
A: The travel director and the coach determine the number of players on a team. Generally 10 players, however could be up to 16 players.
Q: When and how will a parent be notified if their child has made a team?
A: Tryout participants will be notified by email that rosters are posted on Shelton FC Website after the tryouts.
Q: What are the costs of the uniform and who pays for them?
A: Uniform costs range from $100 to $150. The uniform consists of three shirts, one pair of socks and shorts. Players pay for their own uniforms.
Q: Can my child play another sport/activity while being on the Travel soccer team?
A: Yes, as long as they can attend all practices and games.
